Maxon Cinebench 10 x64
Website: Cinebench
Maxon Cinebench is based on Maxon's popular animation software, Cinema 4D, which is used extensively by studios and production houses worldwide for 3D content creation. We've used the built-in CPU benchmark, which uses a 3D scene file to render a photo-realistic image of a concept bike. The scene makes use of various CPU-intensive features such as reflection, ambient occlusion, area lights and procedural shaders.

Considering the potential eight threads of the Core i7-920, there isn't a massive margin in this highly threaded test - unlike 7-Zip - so the 955 manages to keep up quite well, stretching out a nice lead into second place over the 940, 945 and Q9550 which all hover around the 12,550 mark. Interestingly, the 940 outperforms the 945 here which indicates DDR2 and/or the DDR2 controller in K10.5 CPUs is still more optimal than the DDR3 one.

Disappointingly, even in the single threaded CPU test the Core i7 with a 500MHz slower clock speed still manages to outperform the Phenom II X4 955 by a small margin, and DDR3 makes no difference to DDR2 in this test as well, as proven by the 945 to 940 numbers.
